New Life For Youth
New Life For Youth was organized and founded by Victor & Carmen Torres in 1971 in Richmond, VA.
Victor Torres was once a heroin addict, a drug pusher, and a warlord in one of Brooklyn’s meanest gangs (the Roman Lords). He was miraculously converted and delivered from the bondage of addiction through a ministry such as New Life for Youth. He went to Bible College where he met his wife Carmen. Ending up in richmond Virginia taking in the drug addicts and the gang members into their very own home, they began the calling that God had put on their lives. They began to reach out to the lost with the love of Christ and the message of hope. The need was present to help those who have life controlling problems.
New Life For Youth is a Christian, residential, training center for people with life controlling problems. We are a non-profit organization that has helped countless people from all over the United States and Puerto Rico changes their lives. Our spiritual program helps those from all walks of life, many whom struggle with alcohol and drug addiction problems.
The purpose of New Life is to save and change lives. We show young men and women how to change their lives by furthering their education in the areas of academic and biblical studies. This prepares them for a future in the community through a strong foundation in the Word of God and a proper understanding of Christian principles. This enables them to become productive members of their families and communities, bringing the strength of Christ and the message of salvation to the World. New Life For Youth is operated on Christian principles and procedures. We believe in the concept of transformation instead of incarceration and that the lives of suffering men and woman can be changed by the grace of God through the power of Jesus Christ. We maintain a disciplined home environment where people are given a genuine chance at a new beginning. Here they receive the vital skills necessary for a complete change of life. We stand on the promises of God. He tells us "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (II Corinthians 5:17).
